Kelly Dickson’s sensational style and sound has cemented her standing as one of the finest young jazz singers to have recently emerged out of the UK. And despite her youth and petite frame her voice has been described by the award winning jazz musician Jamie Cullum as possessing ‘a subtle power that creeps up on you”. Kelly’s group, ‘The Miss Dickson Band’ is no less incredible and comprises of some truly formidable talent, bursting with players who regularly tour with many household names. Playing from a duet arrangement with Norwegian guitar virtuoso Werner Kristiansan through to larger bands, Kelly will enthral your guests as with her authenticity and elegance. Kelly and The Miss Dickson band have a wonderful repertoire covering all the American Songbook Classics.
Biography
Having discovered a love for jazz at an early age Kelly naturally went on to form a band and started to perform regularly on the jazz circuit. Formalising her grass roots experience with a degree in Jazz Studies from Middlesex University Kelly was then spotted and invited to join the illustrious ‘Players’ Band formed by Paul Weller’s drummer Steve White. Since that fortuitous meeting it’s been a rollercoaster ride of success which has seen Kelly signed to Polydor and record internationally. As well as her recording projects Kelly has been a stalwart of the live scene having recently sung backing vocals for Gwen Stefani and The Noisettes as well as working closely with Corrine Bailey Rae. She also opened the stage for US Pop-Star John Legend at the Dubai Jazz Festival.
